Congressman Stephen Lynch Endorses Diana DiZoglio for State Auditor

BOSTON – Citing her early commitment to conducting a safety audit of the MBTA, Senator Diana DiZoglio has been endorsed by Congressman Stephen Lynch for State Auditor. “I am proud to offer my enthusiastic endorsement of Diana DiZoglio to be the next State Auditor of Massachusetts,” said Congressman Lynch. “Diana knows the challenges so many of our families are facing because she has lived them. Born to a 17-year-old single mom, she grew up housing insecure, cleaning houses and waitressing tables to pay her way through college. She then became a public servant to fight for working families like ours. We need her lived experience in the halls of power.” “But it’s not just her story that makes her the best choice for State Auditor – it is a fearlessness and determination to look out for all of us, and to never take no for an answer when pushing for answers on behalf of working people,” continued Lynch. “Her commitment to using the full powers of the Auditor’s office to conduct a safety audit of the MBTA is just one example. She will look out for the best interests of riders and workers of the MBTA – and hold accountable those who have failed them both. On this and all of the challenges facing Massachusetts, Diana will be the fighter we need in the Auditor’s office to ensure a state government that is accountable and transparent.” In June, DiZoglio announced that as Auditor, she is committed to conducting a safety audit of the T and working with state and federal authorities to improve public transportation in Massachusetts. DiZoglio, who successfully called for oversight hearings of the MBTA in her capacity as a State Senator, understands the importance of public transit for working families and will use the power of the Auditor’s office to help ensure reforms are being made. “Congressman Lynch has been an instrumental transportation leader for the Commonwealth,” said Sen. Diana DiZoglio. “He knows that we need a chief accountability officer who will hold the powerful accountable in the fight for an accessible, effective transportation system. I’m honored to have earned his endorsement, and I look forward to using the full powers of the Auditor’s office to ensure MBTA reform and help build a transit system that works for all of us across Massachusetts.”
