BOSTON – The Retired State, County and Municipal Employees Association of Massachusetts (Mass Retirees) has endorsed Senator Diana DiZoglio (D-Methuen) for State Auditor, citing her expertise in state government and commitment to seniors throughout the Commonwealth. “The State Auditor plays an important role in the formulation and oversight of public retirement policy in Massachusetts,” said Frank Valeri, president of Mass Retirees. “We have endorsed Diana's election to be our next Auditor because of her experience, knowledge and understanding of state government, along with a proven commitment to the retirement security of public retirees and all other seniors throughout the Commonwealth.” Founded in 1968, Mass Retirees is an independent advocacy group serving retired Massachusetts public employees of the 104 public retirement systems within the Commonwealth. By statute, the Auditor holds three seats on the Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission (PERAC) and a seat on the Teachers’ Retirement Board. “Our seniors deserve a State Auditor who deeply understands the issues impacting their lives and will fight for their dignity,” DiZoglio said. “I’m honored to earn the endorsement of the MassRetirees, who spent their careers serving the public, and I look very much forward to their partnership in the Auditor’s office.” To date, DiZoglio has also been endorsed by dozens of elected officials, community leaders and activists from across Massachusetts, along with the Massachusetts Teachers Association, the American Federation of Teachers Massachusetts, EMILY’s List, Massachusetts AFL-CIO, Massachusetts Nurses Association, National Association of Government Employees (NAGE), UNITE HERE 26, IBEW Local 223, Boston Carmen’s Union, Iron Workers Local 7, Machinists District 15, the MBTA Inspectors Union, Operating Engineers Local 4, the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts, Teamsters Local 170 and 25, and the Puerto Rican PAC of Lawrence.
